New gallery studios available!
A studio with a window. A fully enclosed big one. And a special one with a classic NYC-style fire escape balcony. [EDIT: #216 and #208 are GONE.]
It feels like a lifetime since we opened the doors to Lucky Cat DTLA this spring; in the last eight months, this place has transformed from a big empty white box to a full-fledged artist community with its own quirky personality and welcoming, can-do attitude.
If you’re looking for a place to create or show off your art, this is such a good spot. Not only do you get your own private studio on the mezzanine floor… you get access to 7000 SF of common space including the gallery, workshop, and decadently decorated ‘speakeasy’ lounge; a wildly diverse group of friendly neighbors; and a built-in audience of visitors eager to see your creations every month!
This location is not great for ‘messy’ work like welding or carpentry, but if you’re a painter, sculptor, graphic designer, textile artist, creative agency, photographer, filmmaker, or the like: you belong here.
Our contracts are month-to-month, giving you plenty of flexibility. There’s no additional charges for utilities (including fast WiFi!). Night owl? No problem — we’re open late. And, as much as we love it inside the walls of this sanctuary, we also love being in the heart of a vibrant downtown metropolis, where opportunities you didn’t even know you were looking for are calling your name.
Take a look below for the five studios that are currently available. Interested in a tour? Respond to this email and we’ll set one up right away.
#216: The Back Porch. (TAKEN)
This studio is the best one we’ve got in the whole building. Not only is it the perfect size and shape, it’s got beautiful morning light, and best of all: a window that opens up onto a fire escape balcony. Bring your plants; they’ll thrive here almost as much as you will. You can get a good sense of the space in this feature on its previous occupant.
#208: The Long Window Office. (TAKEN)
Prefer afternoon light, and need more space? This one’s got plenty of both. It’s long enough that you could share with a friend, or display a lot of stuff along the walls and on the built-in counter (sadly, no, I can’t take the counter out). This one is $750/month for the first 6 months to help you get settled in, and $900/month after that.
#210: The Black Room.
550 SF 🔹 $1600 / $1900
All of our studios have walls open along the top (re: sprinkler system)… except this one. Fully enclosed with solid concrete walls all around, this is a good room to soundproof, or turn into a darkroom, or have a totally private meeting/business space. PLUS, it’s got its own porch overlooking the gallery — host the best party-within-the-party on the monthly Art Night, or create a lovely waiting room for clients. $1600/month for the first 6 months, and $1900 after that.
#211: Breaking the Fourth Wall.
470 SF 🔹 $1300 / $1600
OK, this one’s a weird one, but hey, that’s why it’s cheap. It’s got a funky floor plan with nooks that could be turned into storage or office sections, and the entire wall overlooking the gallery is… just the railing. This openness makes the space feel extra big, and it’s good for displaying art to be seen from the ground floor. But we’re open to suggestions. Got an idea of how you’d like to modify it to suit you? Talk to our capable design and construction team and we’ll make it happen. $1300/month for the first 6 months, $1600 onwards.
#213: The Big L.
625 SF 🔹 $1600 / $2000
This is our BIGGEST room, and by far the cheapest per square foot. You could bring four of your friends in here and have an excellent time creating all sorts of good stuff together. It’s got partial walls in front, and fully enclosed concrete walls in the back, with a bonus brick wall for that old school artist studio vibe. It looks way better in this walkthrough video than in pictures. $1600/month for the first six, $2000/month onwards.
